JACQUES VILLENEUVE Formula One
BAR
1999
* Villeneuve joined the newly-founded British American racing (BAR) team, co-founded and partly owned by Jacque's personal manager Craig Pollock
* Despite high expectations, BAR had a poor season, retiring from the first eleven races of the season .They did not score a single Championship point
2000
* Despite the lack of a competitive car Villemeuve remained loyal to Pollock. The Supertec engine was replaced by the new BAR-Honda package which proved more competitive and Jacques finished in the points on seven dfferent occasions and almost got a podium finish at the US Grand Prix
2001
* Villeneuve was involved in a crash at the Australian Grand Prix when he hit the back of Rolf Schumacher's Williams. A track marshall was killed by a stray wheel
* Jacques scored five points less than the previous season, but finished on the podium in Spain and Germany. The latter was the final podium finish of his Grand Prix career
2002
Pollock was sacked and replaced by Prodrive boss David Richards who soon began a debate over Villeneuve's $ 15 million salary. From this point on, Jacques felt less comfortable at the team.
2003
* With one year left on his contract, Villenuve turned down a lucrative offer to spend a season racing in CART
* This year Jason Button from Renault joined BAR. He outscored Jacques in the Drivers' Championship and was able to score consistently, finishing in thepoints every two races on the average
