Raul Boesel .. Formula 1, World Sportscar Championship

Formula 1

In 1982, Boesel drove for the March Grand Prix team.The car had a March 821 Chassis and a Cosworth V8 engine.Raul out-qualified his more experienced team-mate Jochen Mass but the car was not competitive. At the season's end Boesel had failed to score any points.

 In 1983, Boesel got a ride with Ligier. This car had a Ligier JS21 Chassis and a Cosworth engine
This year he struggled with an unreliable car but he did get a seventh place finish at Long Beach.

Despite a disappointing two years in F1, he later had a promising racing career.


World Sportscar Championship

In 1987, he switched to the World Sportscar Championship with Jaguar and won the title with five victories.

He won, in 1988, the 24 Hours of Daytona in a Jaguar XJR-9, along with Martin Brundle and John Nielsen. That year he returned to CART.

In 1991, he finished second in Le Mans 24 Hours with Jaguar and again returned to Cart.
