2004
* With no contract for 2004, Villeneuve was forced to take a sabbatical. He returned to Formula One, driving in the final three Grand Prix of thr season for thr French Renault team. Boss Flavio Briatore felt that Jacques would be worth a gamble.
* Villeneuve failed to score a single point and unable to finish any of the races on the lead lap. His task was made all the more difficult by his team mate the up and coming Frenando Alonzo
SABER
2005
* For the opening three races he was the slowest on Michelin tires and there were rumours that he would be replaced At Imola he scored his first points for the team with a fourth place.
* His pace improved and he scored points in Belgium where he finished sixth, moving him ahead of team mate Massa in the Championship.After Massa finished 6th in the China Grand Prix he repassed Villeneuve in the standings. In terms of speed the two team-mates were fairly evenly matched
2006
* Villeneuve scored seven points during the first twelve rounds of the season. But at the German Grand Prix, Villeneuve had alleged sustained an injury in a crash.
* After replacing Villeneuve in Hungary, test driver Robert Kubica drove to a solid seventh place. Within days BMW Sauber and Villeneuve announced that they had parted company
POSSIBLE RETURN TO F1
* At the Monaco Grand Prix in 2009, in an interview with Martin Brundle, Villeneuve revealed an interest in competing Forula One. For the 2010 season Jacques confirmed that he has been in talks with several teams; namely Lotus and US F1.
